A new lease of life | Jade Fenu
Throughout the composition, the artist seeks to reconcile a form of expression
initially devoid of any prior characterisation and a much more personal intentionality. He stops when the painting finds its autonomy and allows him to grasp a reality other than his own.
In this process, he has to find a way of letting go and allowing errors to occur, accidents along the way that will initially destabilise him, make him doubt, and lead him down paths that seem to have no way out. But in the end, these aporias are just as many opportunities for him to take new directions. As in a series of forks in the road that we don’t see coming, it’s up to Jade Fenu to choose the path he wants to follow, transforming disappointment into demand, making the sacrifice of one layer of paint the humus of the next, with the history and energy of each remaining inseparable. The balance is inexorably established between what appears and what disappears. From this “bio-mimeticism” between art and nature flow the recurring themes of his work. The infinity and infinitude of an abstracted nature paradoxically illustrate our human condition: adaptation, evolution, transformation and even mutation of our individual and collective identities. Notions such as survival, duality and the balance of power are confronted and superimposed in a single visual space.
