Born November 30, 1976 Currently lives and works in Paris. As an aside Jade Fenu mentions that the job of the artist is to paint, not to make paintings. It’s an interesting distinction that might not make sense for an artist focused on meticulously recreating a glimpsed scene or producing effective illusion, but Fenu is neither of those. His gestures and process lay front and center, varying from full motion abstractions to figurative narratives set in melting, swirling splattered landscapes. But since Jade Fenu is still a (relative) newcomer to the art scene, and the gallery hosting him is just as new, the claim is quite valid. Even if his non-figurative works - produced using a mixed technique of acrylic or spray paint, and collages of cut-out or scratched photographs - are reminiscent in their rendering of the emotions once aroused by the vision of the first semi-abstract computer creations (Philippe Gerbaud and Marc Caro era).
