For Malevich II | Marc-Antoine Decavèle
From 30 november 2019 to 11 january 2020
The gap resists. The distance that is established, insofar as it can be crossed, remains necessary for there to be a gaze. A gaze enters. In this interval, the movement of the eye coincides with that of the colour. I hypothesise that Marc-Antoine Decavèle paints the interval through which what changes between seeing and looking passes. Blue is the colour of this place. Blue is the colour of a passage. Colour acts on forms, it figures them, the energy of colour makes it oscillate from itself to itself, the subject of the painting is the blue halo or crown. This blue painting ‘describes’ the conditions in which light appears, a Goethean experience. (Francis Cohen)
