“The freedom I was promised… If there’s one thing that’s impossible, it’s to return to the innocence of childhood. A childhood so fragile, like a dandelion pistil or the wings of a butterfly – to touch them is already to destroy them. So at times in my life, I paint, I create, I work and I socialise… By dint of my success, people talk to me about gifts and talent, and I’d just like to talk about sharing, about tender and protective relationships. I do what I can.
Painting is like a leaky tap, drop by drop the colour floods the canvas, and it’s never finished. If you stop, it’s because you’ve just had a new encounter with hope. For me, artist used to mean definitive. Today it means absence. Can we be any clearer?” (Francky Criquet)
