Lighting the way | Rémy Hysbergue by Martine Pullara.
La Galerie Valérie Eymeric is devoting a solo show to Rémy Hysbergue, whose innovative treatment of light explores the effects and evocative power of images.
Both a teacher at the Ecole supérieure art et design de Saint Etienne and a painter, whose work is featured in the collections of several FRACs and the Ohara Museum in Japan, the artist has been developing a body of work over the past thirty years that questions the legacy of 20th-century abstraction, exploring the question of the “in-between-image”: a possible path between image and painting.
With his exhibition Faire la lumière, Rémy Hysbergue invites us to look closely at light, to discover its subtleties and transformative power, its ability to destabilize our visual perception.
From his canvases emerge compositions of bright, vivid colors, where light and texture interact with velvety surfaces to captivate the eye and plunge the viewer into an overwhelming artistic experience.
