“From border to other”
SOLO EXHIBITION
From February 23 to April 6, 2024, Galerie Valérie Eymeric (Lyon) presents a solo exhibition
by visual artist-photographer Andréa Vamos.
The artist unveils two series emblematic of her work: “From Border to another” and “In situ by the way side”.
and “In situ by the way side”.
The first experiments with the place of the image: where is it?
The aim is to explore a focus in search of light, color and line. Between
realism and abstraction, the photographic structure is juxtaposed with the landscape. The sites
are selected for their minimalist, natural compositions. Between painting and
photography, each of these two approaches retains its place: here, the aim is to
a photograph of an ephemeral pictorial installation set against the backdrop of reality. Between
Montenegro and Serbia, I’m experimenting with two completely contrasting landscapes.
one is airy, maritime and endless, the other is heavy, mountainous and dark. This
correspondence in diptych form invites poetic meditation, a form of magical
a form of magical apparition that marvels the everyday.
The second questions innocence, childhood play – children hide their faces behind their hands
behind their hands, thinking that if they can’t see us, we can’t see them
either. It is this innocence, this play between the viewer and the viewed, between the visible and the non-visible, that we find again in our work.
and the unseen, that we find in the In situ by the way side series.
Deceptively hidden behind transparent installations, the places photographed
paradoxically reveal themselves. The artist offers us a point of view, directing our gaze
orients our gaze as spectators, defining a frame of interest through staging.
