Topologies | Jérémie Lenoir
“Topologies” brings together works produced since 2012 on territories in tension along the urban-rural divide. Bringing together under this theme his series around the Seine, the North and Montreal, the exhibition focuses on the notions of vernacular and entropy, and on the political and economic processes that shape the contours of our cities. The body of work is deeply rooted in reality, and the spaces photographed are meticulously selected for what they tell us about the transformations taking place in our society.
Building sites, wasteland, rooftops, storage facilities and industry take on abstract and symbolic features that open the way to sensitive, poetic and plastic contemplation, and allow the artist to obsessively construct a semiotic of contemporary landscapes.
