Hiding in the wild | Julie Gade
This pictorial work leads us to explore everything that is hidden, invisible and yet right in front of us. What at first appears to be an abstract painting is transformed into hyper-realistic animals the closer we get to them. Encouraging everyone’s imagination to chase away the creatures that form under certain strokes to make way for small dots and organic shapes, from which a fantastic fauna gradually emerges to the delight of children and adults alike.
The contrast between the abstract and the realistic, between the wild and the calm, between chaos and order, is a recurring theme in the Danish artist’s paintings and in her process. Parallels can be drawn with the inevitable contrasts of life, provoking deep reflections linked to our experiences. ‘Hiding in the wild’ is a series of works suitable for anyone wishing to detect meaning or simply enjoy Julie Gade’s array of colours.
