Presence | Anne Michaud
From 8 april to 6 may 2017
Anne Michaud’s favourite themes, far removed from academic beauty (thus immersing her in the modernity of contemporary art), rehabilitate everyday, banal objects, suggesting a humanity that is figuratively absent from her paintings. While the theme of pleats, sheets and the human presence without figuration are still very much present in this second exhibition, she has revolutionised the way she treats them, using real sheets – salvaged if possible so that they have a story to tell – and spray-painting, not hesitating to use an extremely contemporary medium.
The result is a series of powerful, mysterious and silent canvases, reminiscent of Simon Hantaï’s pleated paintings and Thomas Fougeirol’s abandoned beds.
