The monad, the perfect unity, the absolute principle, is a concept of the philosopher Leibniz, which strongly inspired visual artist Frédéric Galliano to create his new series, Les Coupoles, whose pieces are exhibited at La Galerie Valérie Eymeric, in the heart of Lyon. More concerned with form than color, Galliano’s creations revolve around his vision of his environment, which he describes as “flat”. Inspired by the cupolas found in Baroque churches, his sculptures are created according to a strict protocol, using several squares, from which he has never deviated since his beginnings in 1192. The result lies somewhere between rigidity and randomness. Fascinating.
